Vessel 2024
Vessel 2024
A vessel that holds more than one thing, open on both ends – moves and finds its balance again and again.
Inspired by the fluid curves of the Malayalam alphabet, Vessel embodies the idea that language itself serves as a vessel. A steel tube bends to form a singular loop with two open ends. If the flower on one end droops, it moves and regains its balance gracefully, reflecting the journey of those of us who have moved away from our homes, seeking to find our balance again and again.
Vessel brings poetry and movement to your tabletop, adapting to your arrangement, whether delicately balancing between stalks of flowers on either end or forming a dramatic asymmetry with blooms on just one side. It invites us to reflect on the relationships between language, culture, and the objects we surround ourselves with.
Bending steel to express finding softness in hard materials has been a recurring theme in soft-geometry’s practice. Vessel is the first of a series of sculptural vases that will emerge from the exploration of the Malayalam script, each telling a story through form.
